Overview
The Early Years Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) qualification is for a Level 3 practitioner in a private, voluntary, or independent setting. All early years providers are required to have arrangements in place to identify and support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and to promote equality of opportunity for children in their care. This is an important role to ensure the best possible educational outcomes are achieved for children with SEND. This qualification is also appropriate for childminders.
The qualification is designed for those already working in a SENCo role as part of their early years practitioner role, or those who are interested in doing so.

Course Details
What will I study on the course?
There are two mandatory units that both need to be completed.
A/617/1651- Unit 1 Roles and responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator in the Early Years
F/617/1652 – Unit 2 Strategies and techniques for supporting children and families
Work Placement
You need to be working at a level 3 role in a relevant setting.Entry Requirements
Entry to the course is by interview. You must be 18 or above to apply.How will I be assessed?
A non-mandatory internal assessment task will be provided to be completed at the end of the qualification. This qualification does not include an external assessment.
How will I study?
There is no set start date – you can enroll throughout the year and complete the course at your own pace to meet your individual needs. It should take approximately 6 – 12 months to complete.Progression
Upon achievement of this qualification, learners will be able to progress to higher learning in Special Education Needs and other relevant sectorsHow much does the course cost?
The cost of the course is £499 and includes all one-to-one teaching & support, access to our E-learning platform and certification. We have a flexible payment plan available so you can pay in instalments.
